WBTC July 2026 Update: A Month of Milestones

The month of July marks Ethereum’s 11th birthday, a reminder of the network where WBTC first launched in 2019 and helped bring Bitcoin into DeFi.

Meanwhile, Bitcoin’s price briefly reclaimed $65,000, reaching highs above $66,000 before retracing into the $62,000-$63,000 range as markets reacted to evolving macroeconomic conditions, U.S. regulatory developments, CLARITY Act, and inflation data.

Despite the volatility, WBTC continued expanding across the Bitcoin DeFi ecosystem and strengthening its position as the most widely used tokenized Bitcoin in DeFi.

Here’s everything that happened in July.

WBTC Supply on Aave V4 Reaches New High

Adoption within lending markets accelerated throughout July.

WBTC supplied to Aave V4 reached a new all-time high, growing rapidly from:

  • Around 200 WBTC by late June

  • More than 800 WBTC by late July

The rapid increase highlights growing confidence in using Bitcoin as productive collateral across DeFi.

YieldBasis Expands WBTC Capacity by $10 Million

The YieldBasis community voted to increase the capacity of the yb-WBTC market by $10 million, expanding the market from approximately $22 million to $32 million.

The proposal was created on July 22 and successfully passed just three days later.

The increase reflects continued demand for Bitcoin-based yield opportunities as more users look to generate returns while maintaining BTC exposure.

Binance Wallet Adds WBTC Through JustLend DAO

One of July’s biggest integrations came as Binance Wallet added support for WBTC through JustLend DAO on TRON.

Users can now supply WBTC directly through the Wallet DeFi interface alongside assets including TRX, JST, SUN, and USDD, making Bitcoin liquidity more accessible within the TRON ecosystem.

This integration gives Binance Wallet users another simple way to put Bitcoin to work in DeFi without leaving their wallet experience.

BloFin Wallet

BloFin Wallet officially integrated WBTC, allowing users to access Bitcoin liquidity across Ethereum, Solana, TRON, and other supported ecosystems while maintaining 1:1 BTC backing.

Each new wallet integration expands the number of places where Bitcoin can participate in decentralized finance.

BOB Expands Bitcoin Utility

WBTC deepened its collaboration with BOB through both product integration and ecosystem education.

Users can now swap BTC directly to WBTC via BOB Gateway, offering competitive rates for popular trade sizes and an easier on-ramp into Bitcoin DeFi. The integration is also featured on the WBTC ecosystem page, making it even easier for users to get started.

Beyond the integration, WBTC also joined the Bullish on Bitcoin Show with BOB to discuss how WBTC became DeFi’s foundational Bitcoin asset, the evolution of tokenized Bitcoin, trust models, and where BTCFi is headed next. The conversation explored how Bitcoin’s role has expanded since WBTC launched in 2019 and what lies ahead for Bitcoin in DeFi.

$4 Billion Transferred Through LayerZero

More than $4 billion worth of WBTC has now been transferred through LayerZero, demonstrating growing demand for multichain Bitcoin liquidity.

As Bitcoin expands beyond a single blockchain, interoperability continues to play an important role in bringing BTC liquidity wherever users want to build, trade, and participate in DeFi.

Looking Ahead

July also reminded the industry that security must evolve alongside adoption. The recent COLDCARD firmware vulnerability sparked important conversations around self-custody and operational security, but it also reinforced a broader truth: no system is entirely risk-free. The incident also raised broader questions around whether security concerns could impact user confidence and adoption, highlighting the need for continued improvements in transparency, education, and verifiability across the ecosystem.

We’re excited to continue building with the community and look forward to sharing even more milestones in August.
