January marked the start of a new year for Bitcoin in DeFi. The month focused on expanding access, improving usability, and strengthening WBTC’s presence across key ecosystems. From new pools on TRON to clearer educational resources for users, January set a strong foundation for how Bitcoin continues to move and function across DeFi.

On 23rd January, the WBTC/USDT pool went live on Sun.io.
This launch expanded how WBTC can be used within the TRON ecosystem, allowing Bitcoin liquidity to participate directly in TRON native DeFi activity. With Sun.io acting as the entry point, users can swap into WBTC and deploy it without leaving the TRON network.
WBTC went live on JustLend on 31 January, giving users another way to put Bitcoin to work within the TRON DeFi ecosystem. Alongside the launch, WBTC released an educational infographic to help users navigate the process.
Education matters when Bitcoin enters new environments. This release was designed to lower friction and help users understand how WBTC can be deployed effectively through JustLend.
January 30th marked 7 years of WBTC.
Seven years in, WBTC has become a core part of how Bitcoin interacts with DeFi. What began as a way to represent BTC on smart contract networks has grown into infrastructure that supports real usage across multiple ecosystems. The anniversary served as a reminder that Bitcoin’s role in DeFi continues to evolve, driven by steady adoption rather than short term cycles.
January also saw the launch of a WBTC yield vault on Ethereum Mainnet by Uncap, offering another avenue for deploying Bitcoin in DeFi.
Users deposit WBTC on Ethereum while strategies are executed across Starknet through managed infrastructure. To support access, Uncap also released a step by step video guide showing how to use the vault.
The release reflects continued growth in structured ways to put Bitcoin to work across DeFi.
January set the pace for the year ahead.
As DeFi continues to expand across chains and environments, WBTC remains focused on one thing. Keeping Bitcoin mobile, usable, and connected wherever DeFi activity happens.
